French Braids

Step 1: Divide hair into 3 equal strands
Take the portion of hair you’d like to french braid, and divide into 3 equal strands. Hold each strand firmly and separate from each other with your fingers.

Step 2: Bring a side strand to the middle
Bring strand A to the middle, crossing over on top of strand B. Be sure to hold each strand firmly, or the braid will not turn out nice.

Step 3: Bring strand C to the middle
Bring strand C to the middle, crossing over on top of strand A. As in Step 2, hold each strand firmly.

Step 4: Add a small amount of hair to strand B
Use your fingers to pick up a small amount of hair from directly below strand B. Add this new strand (D) to strand B for further braiding.

Step 5: Add strands B and D together, and cross over strand C
With strand D added to strand B, bring this entire strand over on top of strand C to the middle.

Step 6: This time, pick up some hair from beneath strand A
Following Steps 4~5, pick up a small portion of hair (E) from below strand A, add that to strand A, and bring the entire strand over on top of strand B+D to the middle.

Step 7: Keep repeating!
Keep picking up small portions from the left and right sections of your hair to add to your braid, and repeat the previous steps to complete your French braid!

Fishbone Plaits

Step 1: Divide hair into 3 equal strands
Take the portion of hair you’d like to plait, and divide into 3 equal strands.

Bring strand C to the middle, crossing over on top of strand A, just like how you do with the french braid!

Step 4: Divide strand B into 2 sections
Insert your finger from the bottom up through strand B, dividing it into 2 sections (B1, B2). From now on, we’ll be braiding with 4 strands!

Step 5: Crossing and braiding over 2 strands
Take the strand nearest your face (B1), and bring it over until it’s between strands A and C. Make sure to cross over on top of the 2 middle strands (B2 and C).

Step 6: Top of fishbone plait done
With this, you’ve got the start of your fishbone plait. From here on, just continue braiding the normal way, bringing the outermost strand on alternate sides through the 2 middle strands.

Step 7: Bring strand A over the 2 middle strands
The next step is bringing strand A over until it’s between strands B2 and C. Do this by crossing over on top of the 2 middle strands (B1 and C)!

Step 8: Repeat for fishbone plait
Continue bringing the outermost strand over the 2 middle strands, and you’ll get a fishbone plait which looks like this!

Twist

Step 1: First, take hair and divide into 2 equal strands
Firstly, take the portion of hair you’d like to twist, and divide into 2 equal strands. Hold each strand firmly and separate from each other with your fingers.

Step 2: Cross strands over each other
Take the 2 strands from Step 1 (A and B) and cross them over each other. Be sure to hold each strand firmly, or the twist will not turn out nice.

Step 3: Add a small amount of hair from the bottom
Take a small amount of hair from below both stands A and B, and divide into 2 sections (C and D). Add strand D to A, and strand C to B.

Step 4: Twist combined strands outwards!
Twist each combined strand (A+D and B+C) away from each other to get 2 twisted strands!!

Step 5: Repeat!
Cross the 2 twisted strands over each other. Repeat from Step 3 onwards, by picking up and adding small amounts of hair, twisting, and crossing over again.

Pompadour

Step 1: Take a portion of hair from top of head
Firstly, take a portion of hair from the top of your head. For those of you with bangs, take the portion from directly behind your bangs!

Step 2: Twist the strand
Start twisting the strand you have taken. Take the strand in one hand and keep twisting.

Step 3: Push twisted portion to front
After securing the twisted portion onto the top of your head, push it slightly to the front to create some volume-up.

Step 4: Secure with pin to finish
To keep the volume-up created in Step 3, use a pin to secure. Stick the pin at the base of the twisted portion to secure it.
