LINE & LACE PATTERNS

Lined Ribbon!

Step 1: Take up violet and white acrylic paint colors onto opposite ends of a flat brush, blend them onto the tip using a paper towel, then draw the bottom portion of the ribbon as shown.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1, except turn your brush 180 degrees around so the violet color is on top. Draw the upper portion of the ribbon as shown.

Step 3: Wash your brush and take up both colors again, but this time, take up more of the white paint than the violet. Draw the end of the ribbon as shown, decreasing your brush pressure near the end before ending the stroke.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 to draw the other end of the ribbon.

Step 5: Take up some violet paint onto a thin brush and draw in the ribbon’s knot.

Lace 1!

Step 1: Take up some violet paint onto a corner of a flat brush, blend it onto the tip using a paper towel, and draw a semicircle.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1 to get a row of frills. Try to make all the semicircles the same size.

Step 3: Repeat Step 2 to create an inner row of semicircles. Be sure not to let the 2 rows overlap.

Step 4: Take up some violet paint onto a thin brush and draw in a thin line above each semicircle.

Step 5: Using the thin brush, draw lines to create a cross-grid as shown, as well as dots above the lines drawn in Step 4.

Checks!

Step 1: Take up orange and brown acrylic paint colors onto opposite ends of a flat brush in equal amounts, blend them onto the tip using a paper towel, then draw a straight line as shown.

Step 2: Repeat Step 1 and draw a second line below the first.

Step 3: Take up some emerald green paint onto a corner of a flat brush, blend it onto the tip using a paper towel, and draw a vertical line as shown.

Step 4: Repeat Step 3 to draw 2 more vertical lines.

Step 5: Take up some gold paint onto a thin brush, and draw some thin lines in-between, as shown.

Lace 2!

Step 1: Take up some pale blue paint onto a thin brush and draw 3 rectangles as shown. Try to create an even layer of paint without any bumps.

Step 2: Take up some blue paint onto a corner of a flat brush, then do shading on the corner of the rectangle drawn in Step 1.

Step 3: Continue to do shading on both ends of each rectangle. Be sure not to add to the thickness of the rectangles.

Step 4: Take up some blue paint onto a corner of a flat brush and draw semicircles below to create frills.

Step 5: Take up some blue paint onto a thin brush and draw in lines and dots as shown.
